Police fear former England rugby player Tom Foyce has died after disappearing in a flooded area of Northumberland during Storm Darragh.
Northumbria Police said they received a report on Sunday that the 43-year-old had not returned home after spending an evening with friends.
Mr Voyce is suspected of trying to cross Abberwick Ford, near Alnwick, in his car, which was pulled by the river current.
Officers have since recovered his car, but Mr Voice remains missing.
The storm has caused severe weather in the United Kingdom since the early hours of Saturday morning, leading to a number of flood warnings being issued.
Mr Voice, from Truro, Cornwall, played for England from 2001 until 2006, before retiring from rugby in 2013.
Lives in Alnwick since 2020.
