A Banksy artwork that appeared in Margate last year has returned to the city.
The piece – called ‘Valentine’s Mascara’ – can now be viewed at Hornby Hobbies’ The WonderWorks for free after a stint in London galleries.
The mural, which appeared on the side of a house in the town on Valentine’s Day 2023, shows a 1950s housewife with a bulging eye and missing teeth, appearing to lock a man in a refrigerator.
Ollie Raeburn, chief executive of Hornby Hobbies, said the artwork had a “special place” in Margate’s heart.
The artwork was originally placed On display at the city’s Dreamland theme park.
Before returning to Margate, she was based at Yamaha Music London and Yield Gallery in the capital.
The work by the Bristol artist was valued at £6 million and was put on public display An opportunity to buy shares In the mural.
Anyone who owned one of 27,000 shares, worth £120 each, was eligible for benefits such as limited edition publications.
